Budapest revives old trams, buses, and trolley buses for weekend commutes
Nostalgia vehicles will once again be carrying passengers on spectacular routes in Budapest’s downtown from May until October. These vehicles, which ran on the streets of Budapest decades ago, have been expertly restored for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike.
One of the highlights of these nostalgic rides is the N2 tram, which travels along the Pest Danube embankment, passing by iconic landmarks such as the Hungarian Parliament, the Vigadó, and Budapest’s oldest church. This route has even been recognized as one of the world’s top 10 most scenic tram routes.
On the Buda side of the city, the N18 tram takes passengers on a picturesque journey from Szent János Hospital to Bartók Béla Street, offering stunning views of the city along the way. The N19 tram, on the other hand, travels between Deák Ferenc Square and Szent Gellért Square, allowing passengers to explore famous Budapest baths, historic bridges, and parks.
