Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Budapest Zoo saw a total of 1.113 million visitors in 2022, representing an increase of almost 7.5 percent compared to the previous year. The zoo had faced restrictions and closures in 2020 and 2021, leading to decreased visitor numbers during those years.
Modern zoos like the Budapest Zoo play a crucial role in education, raising awareness about conservation efforts, and providing recreational opportunities for the public. With the largest number of animals in Hungary, the Budapest Zoo also boasts a botanical garden with a wide variety of plant species on display.
