Budapest’s Thermal Baths Half-Price with Popular Closure

New Discounts Offered for Thermal Baths in Budapest
Starting in April, residents of Budapest will have the opportunity to enjoy discounted visits to the historic thermal baths in the city. The General Assembly of Budapest has approved a plan to provide discounted bath visits for residents, with new benefits being offered to students using a public transport pass.
Under the new discount system, students holding a valid pass purchased via the BudapestGO app can visit one of the company’s historic thermal baths—Gellért, Lukács, Rudas, or Széchenyi—once a month at a 50% discount and the other baths once a week at a 50% discount as well. For those who enter the chosen bath within two hours before closing time, the discount is increased to 80%. These discounts apply to the full-price daily ticket at each of the baths.
To take advantage of the discounts, students must be studying in public education in Budapest or be a local student. They can purchase bath tickets online and present their student pass via the BudapestGO application on the day of their visit. Student ID cards must also be presented at the entrance in order to receive the discounts.
In 2024, over 1.7 million people took advantage of discounted thermal baths tickets in Budapest, accounting for 43.5% of total visitors. BGYH provided a total of HUF 3.7–4 billion in discounts to bath visitors last year. Széchenyi Thermal Bath remains the most visited bath complex in the city, followed by Gellért Thermal Bath.
As Gellért Thermal Bath is expected to close in the near future, residents and visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the discounted bath visits before it is too late. Additionally, entrance tickets for spa visitors in Hungary are expected to moderately increase this year.
For more information on the discounts and how to use them, visit the BKK website or the BGYH website for details on the baths’ opening hours. Make sure to plan your visit and enjoy the relaxing and rejuvenating experience at the historic thermal baths in Budapest.
