Teknofest TRNC: A Celebration of Innovation and Unity
The grand opening ceremony of Teknofest TRNC took place recently, attended by President Ersin Tatar and his wife, Sibel Tatar. The event marked a significant milestone in promoting technological development and innovation in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
In his address, President Tatar reflected on a visit made two years ago to Selçuk Bayraktar, the T3 Foundation Chairman. He expressed his belief that hosting Teknofest would inspire the youth and contribute positively to the promotion of the TRNC.
A Unified Vision for Cyprus
Addressing the ongoing Cyprus issue, President Tatar emphasized that the TRNC encompasses more than just its geographical territory of 3,800 square kilometers. He underlined the importance of safeguarding the rights and interests of Turkish Cypriots in the surrounding seas and airspace. “We are determined to keep the sovereignty, independence, and freedom of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus alive, supported by the Republic of Turkey. We are not alone; Turkey stands with us,” he declared.
President Tatar voiced opposition to federal solutions, warning that such arrangements could jeopardize the Turkish presence on the island and potentially lead to a precarious future for the Turkish Cypriot community.
Embracing Technological Advancements
Highlighting the critical sectors for the TRNC, President Tatar pointed to technology, software, and science as crucial components for building a robust economic framework. He stressed the importance of youth engagement in technology and innovation, asserting that this focus is vital for establishing a more efficient economic structure.
The festival garnered significant attention, drawing thousands of participants, including many from Turkey and various countries. President Tatar expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic involvement of the youth and the international guests.
Strengthening Ties within the Turkish World
President Tatar also took the opportunity to speak about enhancing relationships within the Turkish world, mentioning the TRNC’s status as an observer member of the Turkish States Organization. He welcomed guests from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan, reaffirming the commitment to unity and solidarity among Turkish nations.
At the conclusion of his speech, President Tatar extended his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, noting that Erdoğan’s efforts for recognition of the Turkish Cypriots on all platforms are invaluable.
“Turkey is determined to share its wealth with us. We will continue to work harmoniously with Turkey at all levels of government,” he stated.
Expressing his excitement about Teknofest’s organization in the TRNC, President Tatar wished prosperity and success for all participants in this monumental event.
