Bülent Ecevit Deserves State Commemoration, Says BRTK
President Zorlu Töre Calls for State Ceremonies in Front of Bülent Ecevit’s Monument
At a recent documentary screening event, President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, called for the ceremonies held in front of Bülent Ecevit’s monument at the entrance of Göçmenköy to be turned into a state ceremony.
Töre attended the screening event of the documentary “Bülent Ecevit Tastes Poetry” prepared by Nebil Özgentürk, a famous documentary director and writer from Turkey. The event was organized in cooperation with Oneş Kasım Cyprus University, Kıbrıs Genç TV, and Gönyeli Alayköy Municipality.
During his speech at the event held at the Meral Tekin First Hall of Oneş Kasım Cyprus University, Töre highlighted the historical significance of Bülent Ecevit as the Prime Minister of the 1974 Happy Peace Operation. He emphasized Ecevit’s role in history as the conqueror of Cyprus and Karaoğlan.
Töre also acknowledged the contributions of Ecevit as one of the decision makers for the Turkish army’s landing on the island, noting the significance of the voices of Founding President Denktaş and Bülent Ecevit.
The President called for the historical leaders, including Bülent Ecevit, to be remembered and emphasized Ecevit’s pivotal role in the Turkish Army’s landing in Cyprus. He revealed that he attends the annual ceremonies held in front of the Bülent Ecevit Monument on the morning of July 20, together with the mujahideen and non-governmental organizations.
In addition, Töre emphasized the importance of embracing the national state with determination and moving forward with confidence towards the future. He also expressed gratitude to Ertan Birinci for naming the university he founded as “Oneş Kasım”.
