Burabay Summer Camp Hosts Ethnic Kazakh Children from Overseas

The Otandastar (compatriots) Foundation and the IQanat Foundation recently hosted ethnic Kazakh children living abroad for the Jas Qazaq summer camp, held from June 24 to July 7 in Burabay. A total of 255 children from 12 countries participated in the camp, where they engaged in various activities to learn about Kazakh language, history, traditions, and national games.
According to Kazinform, the children also had the opportunity to attend music lessons, ride horses, set up yurts, and take part in an educational exhibition during the two-week camp. The Otandastar Foundation initiated the summer camp project in 2019, welcoming 150 boys and girls from seven countries to Kazakhstan. However, the project had to be put on hold for two years due to the pandemic.
Last year, the camp welcomed 200 children from Belarus, China, Iran, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Russia, the United States, and Uzbekistan. This year’s successful camp not only provided a valuable learning experience for the young participants but also fostered cultural exchange and connections among ethnic Kazakh children living abroad.
