In a recent statement by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it was emphasized that burning stubble poses significant risks to the environment and public health. As a preventive measure, stubble burning has been prohibited in the city to safeguard the environment, public health, public order, safety, well-being, and public property. The toxic fumes produced during stubble fires, such as ash, particles, and carbon monoxide, severely pollute the air and pose a direct threat to human health. Those with asthma, bronchitis, and COPD are especially at risk of developing serious health issues due to the polluted air.

Wild animals that feed on stubble residues perish, the air becomes contaminated, visibility on highways decreases due to smoke, resulting in potential traffic accidents and loss of life.
Moreover, the statement underlined the religious aspect, noting that burning stubble goes against the teachings of Islam and individuals will be held accountable in the presence of Allah for such actions.
To enforce the ban on stubble burning, individuals found violating the regulation will face an administrative fine of 1933 lira and 95 kuruş for each decare burnt. Furthermore, they will be ineligible for agricultural support for a period of 5 years as a penalty.
