The Heavy Rain Turned into a Flood
A sudden downpour during the night hours turned into a devastating flood in a short period of time in several areas, including the city center and especially in Tirilye District of Mudanya district. The intense rain caused roads to turn into lakes and streams to overflow. Many vehicles were dragged and damaged as a result.
According to reports, 55 kilograms of rain fell per square meter, leading to the rapid flooding of the area. Upon receiving notice of the situation, numerous fire brigade, search and rescue, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region to assist with the emergency.
The heavy rainfall also resulted in the accumulation of water, mud, and debris in the neighborhood and on the coastline. Additionally, the tables and chairs of cafes and restaurants on the beach were damaged by the floodwaters.
Local residents made efforts to drain the water from their homes and workplaces using their own means. Meanwhile, teams equipped with construction equipment have been working tirelessly to alleviate the damage caused by the rain.
Mudanya Mayor Hayri Türkyılmaz personally conducted inspections in the affected area to assess the extent of the damage and to coordinate relief efforts.
Moreover, a workplace security camera captured the dramatic moment when the floodwaters descended from the higher areas, with the images showing the violent flow towards the coast in Trilye.
The community continues to grapple with the aftermath of the flood, with ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and support those impacted by the natural disaster.
