
Bus driver held in fatal Şırnak crash that claimed 2 soldier lives

Bus Accident in Şırnak: Two Soldiers Martyred and 44 Injured
A bus carrying military personnel overturned in the Balveren town location of the Şırnak-Uludere highway yesterday morning. According to reports, the driver, Serdar F., lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into a stockade. Upon receiving notice of the accident, firefighters, health and gendarmerie teams rushed to the scene. Şırnak Governor Osman Bilgin also arrived at the site to investigate.
Unfortunately, Infantry Specialist Sergeant Yunus Öztürk and Contracted Private Muhammed Koçak lost their lives in the accident. A further 44 soldiers and the driver were injured. Ambulances transported the injured to the hospital for treatment. While a crane lifted the bus from the area, authorities began investigating the incident.
Serdar F., the bus driver, was also injured in the accident and received treatment at Şırnak State Hospital. He was later detained and appeared in court on the charge of “causing the death and injury of more than one person by negligence.”
The accident has left the Turkish military community in mourning, with many expressing their condolences and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
