Canadian Company Obtains License for Critical Minerals in Kazakhstan
Condor Energies Secures Critical Minerals Exploration License in Kazakhstan
Canada-based Condor Energies has successfully secured a 6,800-hectare critical minerals exploration license in Kazakhstan. The license, granted for a period of six years, was reported by Mining Technology on March 10.
This new Kolkuduk license is situated near Condor Energies’ existing 37,300-hectare Sayakbay license. Both locations are positioned in a geothermally active, faulted region renowned for its mineral-rich brine reservoirs.
According to data from the Kazakh Government, previous hydrocarbon drilling in Kolkuduk revealed brine deposits with lithium concentrations of up to 130 milligrams per liter. Historical information indicates the presence of a 1,000-meter brine reservoir column containing rubidium, strontium, and cesium.
The strategic location of the license between Europe and China provides direct access to major critical minerals markets, thereby reinforcing Kazakhstan’s position within the global supply chain.
Don Streu, President and CEO of Condor Energies, emphasized the significance of the project in strengthening global critical mineral supply chains. Streu stated, “Condor Energies’ expanding critical minerals initiatives complement our Uzbekistan natural gas project and Kazakhstan’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation fuel business.”
Furthermore, Condor Energies has previously entered into an agreement with Kazakhstan for the construction of an LNG plant capable of producing up to 350 tons of gas per day. This project highlights the company’s commitment to advancing critical minerals exploration and development in Kazakhstan.
