Forest Fire in Çanakkale Brought Under Control

A forest fire broke out near Süleymanköy in the Ayvacık district around 17:00, causing panic among the residents of the area. The fire quickly spread to a wide area due to the strong wind, posing a threat to both the forests and agricultural lands in the region.

Upon receiving notification of the fire, teams from the Çanakkale Forestry Regional Directorate swiftly acted and dispatched helicopters, planes, water trucks, bulldozers, and personnel to the scene. A total of 3 helicopters, 6 planes, 24 water trucks and water supply vehicles, 4 bulldozers, and 180 personnel worked tirelessly to combat the flames both from the air and on the ground.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams, the fire was brought under control at around 19:45, preventing it from causing further damage to the environment. However, 9 hectares of forest and 2 hectares of agricultural land were unfortunately affected by the fire.

Despite the flames being extinguished, the situation remains critical as the teams continue their cooling efforts in the region to prevent any potential re-ignition. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The successful suppression of the fire serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the firefighting teams in Çanakkale, who risk their lives to protect our natural resources. The support and cooperation of the community are essential to ensure the safety of our forests and prevent such disasters from occurring again.
