Çanakkale’s Closed-off Historical Area Reopens to Visitors after Fire

The Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency of the Gallipoli Wars has announced that the Northern Line of the Historical Area, which was temporarily closed to visitors due to a fire that started on August 15, has now been reopened.

The fire broke out near Büyük Anafartalar Village in the Eceabat district of Çanakkale. Precautions were taken regarding visits to the area as a result. The Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency released a statement saying, “Due to the ongoing forest fire around the Eceabat district, entrances to the Northern Line of the Historical Area have been suspended until further notice.”

Visitors can now once again access sites such as Kabatepe Day Unity Area, Sunken Ship, Mimosa, 57th Infantry Regiment Martyrs’ Memorial, and Conkbayırı in the Gallipoli Historical Area.Authorities continue to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of visitors to the area.
