The London Metropolitan Police has reported that a disturbing incident occurred on Shaftesbury Street in the early hours of the morning. According to the statement released by the police, at around 00.45, a person drove their vehicle in the opposite direction on the famous street and intentionally hit pedestrians walking on the pavement.
As a result of this reckless act, four individuals were injured, with one of them being in serious condition. The 31-year-old driver responsible for the incident was swiftly apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder. Officer Stuart Cundy praised the quick response of the police officers on the scene, who worked in conjunction with the City of London police to detain the driver within minutes.
Further investigation revealed that the driver had been involved in a altercation at a nightclub prior to driving onto the pavement.
