Defense Industry Companies Mobilize for Earthquake Recovery Efforts
A meeting was held at the İslahiye AFAD Coordination Center and was attended by various business leaders, representatives, and officials of institutions and organizations. President of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir spoke at the meeting and announced that they had mobilized their companies since the first day of the earthquake, providing necessary support by allocating resources for urgent needs and following them in emergency coordination and AFAD centers. He also noted that some of the defense industry’s technologies were used for the first time in rescue operations, saving nearly 40 lives.
Demir emphasized the importance of employment in the earthquake region and announced the structuring of defense industry companies in various provinces, including plans to create an activity and added value in almost each of the provinces affected by the earthquake. Demir announced that carbon fiber production plants would be created in the region to produce composite products and contribute to disaster preparedness efforts.
GSO Assembly President Adil Sani Konukoğlu and GSO Board of Directors Chairman Adnan Ünverdi expressed their support and willingness to work together with the government and defense industry to rebuild the region and heal its wounds.
Overall, the defense industry companies pledged to play a significant role in the recovery efforts and support the region’s future through investment, employment, and innovation.
