Caught: Escaped Criminal’s Laughter-filled Arrest

A drunk driver in Aksaray, Turkey, caused quite a spectacle when he ignored a ‘stop’ warning from the police and engaged in a brief chase before being caught. What caught everyone’s attention was the driver’s surprisingly relaxed attitude during the whole ordeal. He even managed to make both the police and his friends laugh with his humorous banter.

The incident unfolded in the dormitories area of Aratol İstiklal District. The Provincial Police Department Traffic Registration and Inspection Branch teams were conducting enforcement on the university road when they signaled the car with plate number 68 KV 022 to stop. Instead of complying, the driver decided to make a run for it, leading to a short chase that ended with his capture with the help of the Public Security Branch teams.

Upon inspection, it was revealed that the driver, identified as Ç.A., had a blood alcohol content of 1.70 promil. Despite facing criminal proceedings, Ç.A. remained surprisingly calm and continued to entertain the police with his jokes and laid-back demeanor. His interactions with the police, filled with local charm and improvisation, were even captured on camera.

During the encounter, the drunk driver humorously requested his driver’s license back so he could leave. He even teased the police officer checking his phone messages, showing his lighthearted nature even in a serious situation.

In the end, the driver was fined a total of 12,427 liras for various violations, including drunk driving, disrespectful driving, and ignoring the police’s ‘stop’ warning. His driver’s license was suspended for 6 months, and his vehicle was given to a friend.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the drunk driver managed to bring some comic relief to all involved, turning what could have been a tense situation into a memorable and amusing encounter.
