Çavuşoğlu criticizes law disrespecting teachers

Teachers Amendment Law Passed in Turkey, to Benefit from Knowledge and Experience of Teachers
Following its approval in the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament, the Teachers Amendment Law has been the subject of statements by the Minister of National Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu. He explained that the law, which has been under discussion since July 2022, is designed to benefit more from the knowledge and experience of teachers, and is not intended to discredit them in any way.
Despite claims by unions that the law was passed without consultation, Çavuşoğlu emphasized that nine official meetings were held after the Technical Committee stage, during which suggestions were put forward by the unions and considered. The Ministry brought the proposal to the committee many times in the process of maturing the law.
Çavuşoğlu acknowledged the concerns raised by teachers and their unions, but said that the victims at the current stage are students. He called on the unions to use common sense so that unjust treatment of students does not continue any longer.
The Minister invited teachers and unions to communicate with the Ministry, saying that they were open to further discussions and dedicated to finding solutions that benefit both students and teachers. He emphasized that the contribution made by teachers to society would continue to be an important part of Turkish history.
