CBRT to Announce Interest Rate Decision on Thursday
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey to Decide on Interest Rates
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee is set to convene on Thursday, April 25, with Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan presiding over the meeting. The decision on interest rates will be announced at 14:00 on the same day.
During the last MPC meeting held last month, the policy rate saw a significant increase of 500 basis points, bringing it up to 50 percent. Economists had initially expected the interest rate to remain unchanged at 50 percent, with a median policy rate expectation of 45 percent by the end of the year.
Market participants surveyed by the CBRT also had similar expectations, with the current month and the next three months forecasted to have a policy rate of 50 percent. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, the policy rate expectation increased to 38.18 percent from the previous 36.96 percent.
As the CBRT prepares to announce its decision on interest rates, economists and market participants will be closely watching the outcome and its implications for the Turkish economy. Stay tuned for updates on the CBRT’s decision and its impact on monetary policy.
