Ceasefire in Gaza shattered as US warship targeted by ballistic missile

The Turkish captain of the tanker Central Park recently called for help off the coast of Yemen, and the US Navy’s USS Mason responded to the cargo ship’s distress call near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. According to Central Command (CENTCOM), the crew of the cargo ship is safe, but the USS Mason warship was targeted by two missiles fired at midnight. The missiles, fired by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, fell into the Gulf of Aden approximately 16 kilometers away from the warship.
American Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported that according to two senior US officials, the ballistic missile was launched at the USS Mason by the Houthis in Yemen. In addition to the USS Mason and the Central Park, there was also a Japanese destroyer at the scene to assist the US warship.
The Iran-backed Houthis have recently taken aggressive actions in the region, including seizing a cargo ship in the Red Sea using a helicopter and attacking another cargo ship belonging to an Israeli billionaire with a kamikaze drone. The Houthis have announced their intention to target all Israeli ships passing through Bab al-Mandeb, posing a significant threat to maritime security in the area.
