Celebrating International Mother Earth Day: Educational Meeting at the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkmenistan
UNDP and UNICEF Host Meeting with Turkmenistan’s Student Youth to Celebrate International Mother Earth Day
UNDP, in collaboration with UNICEF in Turkmenistan, recently organized a meeting with the country’s student youth to commemorate International Mother Earth Day. The event took place at the Institute of International Relations (IIR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on April 22, 2024.
Specialists from UNDP and UNICEF engaged with students on various important topics during the meeting. Discussions revolved around the younger generation’s role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, addressing the climate crisis, promoting climate education, building sustainable cities, encouraging responsible consumption, and managing waste effectively.
The meeting was part of the “#TurkmenYouth4SDGs” Educational Sessions series, a collaborative effort between UNDP in Turkmenistan and the IIR. The series aims to involve the country’s student youth in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Through these educational sessions, young people in Turkmenistan are gaining valuable insights into sustainable development, climate action, and the importance of environmental conservation. The engagement of youth in these critical conversations is essential for fostering a more environmentally conscious and responsible society.
As we celebrate International Mother Earth Day, let us continue to support initiatives that empower young people to become active agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.
