‘Celebrating International Zero Waste Day with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’
First Lady Emine Erdoğan has delivered a message on International Zero Waste Day, highlighting the importance of the zero waste movement initiated under her leadership. The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted March 30 as International Zero Waste Day to raise awareness about waste management and sustainability.
Since the launch of the zero waste movement in 2017, significant progress has been made in reducing waste and conserving resources. According to a statement from the Ministry, the initiative has already saved 552.7 million trees from being cut down, resulting in a water saving of 1.7 trillion liters. Additionally, the economic contribution of the movement is estimated to be around 256 billion Turkish Lira.
The zero waste movement has not only been successful in terms of environmental conservation but has also had a positive impact on the economy. Emine Erdoğan’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices and waste reduction is commendable, and her efforts are making a significant difference in Turkey’s environmental landscape.
