Celestial Convergence: Planetary Alignment in April 2025
On April 12, stargazers will have the opportunity to witness a rare celestial event as Mercury and Saturn come into close proximity just before dawn. Located just above the eastern horizon, these two planets will be visible to the naked eye, with Venus shining brightly in the same region. While Venus will be easily noticeable with a brightness of -4.7, a pair of binoculars or a telescope may be needed to spot Saturn, which appears dimmer at about 1 kadir.
Moving on to April 13, skywatchers will be treated to a spectacular sight as the Full Moon graces the night sky. However, this Full Moon will be slightly different as it will be at its farthest point from Earth, earning it the nickname “micro moon” or “mini moon”. At a distance of approximately 406,000 km from Earth, the micro moon will appear around 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than a Super Moon, which is observed when the Full Moon is at its closest point to Earth.
