New Commemorative Coin Released by Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance for Republic’s 100th Anniversary
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has unveiled a new commemorative coin in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. The coin, which is printed by the Mint and has a denomination of “5 Turkish lira,” is set to enter circulation today.
A total of 100 million commemorative coins have been printed, making it a one-time release. The inner core of the coin features the “Türkiye Century” logo, while the outer ring showcases an 8-pointed “Seljuk star” motif.
In addition to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance’s commemorative coin, the General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing House has also announced its own special coin for the Republic’s centenary celebration.
The front side of the coin features the reliefs of all 12 Presidents who have served since the proclamation of the Republic, along with the logos for the Centenary of the Republic of Türkiye and the Century of Türkiye. On the reverse side, there is a relief of Ataturk, emphasizing the innovations made since the founding of the Republic.
Prominent elements on the coin include reliefs of Hürkuş, Hürjet, High-Speed Train, TOGG (Turkish Automobile Joint Venture Group), and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. The Çamlıca Mosque, Atatürk driving a tractor, the harvester, women’s suffrage and the success of women in sports are also highlighted.
For those interested in obtaining the commemorative coins, they can be purchased from the Mint’s website or sales store. The design prominently displays a relief depicting the Turkish Nation holding a flag.
Notably, two renowned scientists, Prof. Dr. Oktay Sinanoğlu and Prof. Dr. Saint Sancar, have been honored with their own reliefs on the commemorative coin.
As the Republic celebrates its 100th anniversary, these commemorative coins serve as a symbol of Turkey’s rich history and achievements, paying tribute to the past and looking towards a prosperous future.
