Central Asian Hub for Euronews to Open in Astana

Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva and Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews, recently signed a historic agreement to open a Euronews representative office for Central Asia in Astana. The signing took place on Aug. 14 in Brussels, as reported by the ministry’s press service.
The decision to open a Euronews hub in Astana comes at a time when Kazakhstan is undergoing significant transformations across all sectors of state life and continues to play a crucial role in the Central Asian region. This move holds great historical significance for the country.
The Euronews team has exciting plans for the Astana hub, including the broadcasting of a new TV show called “Modern Nomads” that will explore Kazakh art, culture, and lifestyle. Other programs such as “Connection of East and West” covering business and economic events in Kazakhstan, and “Voices from Central Asia” featuring interviews with prominent figures from the region will also be featured. Additionally, the hub will produce a series of “Focus” reports on major regional events and provide training sessions and masterclasses to enhance the skills of local media and press service employees.
Chairman Pedro Vargas David expressed his enthusiasm for Euronews being the first major international news player to establish a hub in Astana. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s openness to the world and described the country as the center of the Eurasian continent. This expansion marks a significant milestone for Euronews, reaching beyond European borders to establish a presence in Central Asia.
Euronews, known for reaching 1.2 billion people worldwide, sees the establishment of a hub in Central Asia as a long-awaited opportunity. The network also intends to become an information partner for the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games, further solidifying their commitment to the region.
The opening of the Euronews hub in Astana is a testament to Kazakhstan’s growing importance on the global stage and signifies a new era of international collaboration and cultural exchange for the Central Asian region.
