
Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey to Announce Interest Rate Decision on Thursday

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) is set to hold a Monetary Policy Committee meeting on Thursday, March 21, led by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The decision regarding interest rates will be announced at 14:00 on the same day. In the previous MPC meeting, the policy rate was maintained at 45 percent.
Economists’ expectations indicate that the policy rate will remain unchanged at 45 percent. This aligns with the median of economists’ year-end policy rate predictions.
According to the CBRT’s survey of market participants, the expectation for the end of the current month is 45 percent, with a slight increase to 46.85 percent for the next 3 months. The policy rate expectation for the next 12 months has also seen a mild rise from 36.62 percent to 36.96 percent. Market participants seem to be in line with economists’ forecasts for the policy rate.
