An Organized Crime Organization Dismantled in Istanbul-based Operation

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya recently announced on his social media account that a successful operation was carried out in Istanbul and several other cities in Turkey. This operation was conducted by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department Narcotics Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security’s Anti-Narcotic Crimes Directorate.

The operation targeted the organized crime organization known as “Çetinler”, led by Özay Çetin and Mert Çetin, and was named “Mahzen-15”. A total of 109 suspects, including the ringleaders, were apprehended during the operations.

It was revealed that the captured suspects were involved in various criminal activities such as drug dealing, intentional murder attempts, gunshot woundings, workplace shootings, and looting. As a result of the operations, 7 unlicensed guns, 4 kilograms of methamphetamine, various quantities of marijuana, bonzai, cocaine, and narcotic pills, as well as numerous magazines, cartridges, and a significant amount of Turkish lira were seized.

Minister Yerlikaya commended the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the diligent police officers who carried out the successful operation. He expressed his gratitude and wished for their continued safety. The nation’s prayers were also offered to support the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the country.
