Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan speaks with President of Türkiye
A telephone conversation between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the President of the Republic of Türkiye took place on October 8, 2024. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged warm greetings and discussed the strong bilateral relations between their countries.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the deepening of the Turkmen-Turkish relations and discussed upcoming events. President Erdogan showed great interest in the celebrations commemorating the anniversary of the revered poet Makhtumkuli Fragi in Turkmenistan and abroad. He also wished success to the international forum honoring the poet that will be held in Ashgabat.
President Erdogan was recognized for his contributions to the study and promotion of Makhtumkuli’s creative heritage, including the installation of a monument to the poet in Ankara. In recognition of his efforts to strengthen friendship between the two nations, President Berdimuhamedov awarded Erdogan the jubilee medal “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna”.
The leaders exchanged warm greetings and well wishes, with President Berdimuhamedov expressing gratitude to President Erdogan and the Turkish people for their support of Turkmen culture. He also extended greetings to Erdogan’s wife, Emina Erdogan.
President Berdimuhamedov invited President Erdogan to visit Turkmenistan at his convenience, highlighting the historical significance of such a visit. The conversation concluded with mutual wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity for the peoples of Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
