Turkmenistan’s Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, had a telephone conversation with Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, on May 16, 2023. Berdimuhamedov noted that effective cooperation between the two nations is reliant on bilateral contacts at the highest state and government levels with Tatarstan. The National Leader of the Turkmen people also mentioned the successful working visit of the head of Tatarstan to Turkmenistan in early April. During the visit, a wide range of issues concerning the strengthening of trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan was discussed.

Both parties also acknowledged the potential for the implementation of joint projects in various industries, including oil and gas, shipbuilding, chemical industry, aviation equipment, and trucks. The importance of regular contacts at different levels, exchange of delegations, and participation in various events was also emphasized.

In light of the existing cooperation, the two leaders expressed their intention to continue expanding bilateral ties in various areas of mutual interest. The Turkmen delegation will also be taking part in the upcoming International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum” on May 18-19 from this year.
