“Champion Angels Monument National Project Competition” – BRTK
The Union of Chambers of Engineers and Architects (KTMMOB) recently introduced a book showcasing the “Champion Angels Monument National Architecture, Landscape, and Plastic Art Work” project competition. The event was held in collaboration with the Champion Angels Survival Association and Famagusta Municipality at the Turkish Cypriot Teachers’ Union Conference Hall.
The event saw the participation of various notable figures such as Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman, Famagusta Mayor Süleyman Uluçay, Prime Ministry State Planning Organization (DPO) Undersecretary Durali Güçlüsoy, Socialist Democracy Party (TDP) President Zeki Çeler, and representatives from various organizations and associations.
During the event, KTMMOB General Treasurer Navter Zafer Cömert highlighted the significance of remembering the lives lost in the February 6 earthquakes and the importance of the monument competition in honoring their memory. Champion Angels Association President Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya emphasized the project’s role in immortalizing the memory of the lost individuals and symbolizing justice within society.
Mayor of Famagusta Süleyman Uluçay shared insights on the challenging process in Adıyaman and stressed the importance of coming together in the face of adversity. Other speakers including Zeki Çeler, Durali Güçlüsoy, and Tufan Erhürman expressed their support for the project and commended the collective efforts to remember and honor the champion Angels.
Seran Aysal, President of KTMMOB, concluded the event by emphasizing the need for concrete actions to preserve the memory of the lives lost in the earthquakes and announced plans for the construction of a physical monument to commemorate the 35 individuals who perished.
Overall, the event served as a platform to remember the tragic events of the past and celebrate the resilience and unity of the community in striving for justice and solidarity.
