Chaotic aftermath of Edirne accident: 11 detained
A car accident occurred around 02:00 on Atatürk Boulevard, involving two vehicles and resulting in one person being injured. The incident took place when a light commercial vehicle, with plate number 22 HL 350 and driven by MS, collided with a car, plate number 06 SC 121 and driven by NFK, while attempting to make a turn at an intersection.
Following the collision, both vehicles skidded and led to the injury of one individual. Medical teams were quick to respond to the injured person on the scene. However, tensions rose as an argument erupted between the individuals in the vehicles involved. Matters escalated further when relatives of those present arrived at the scene, resulting in a physical altercation. Law enforcement intervened to break up the fight, leading to the arrest of 11 individuals.
In a separate incident, the city of Edirne saw the first traffic violation of the new year during police inspections. A driver identified as EG was stopped by authorities and subjected to a breathalyzer test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 1.21 promil. As a result, the driver was fined 11,434 TL for driving under the influence, and his license was revoked due to being a learner driver.
