Children’s Day Festival Celebrated in Gönyeli and Yenikent on June 1st
The Gönyeli and Yenikent neighborhoods celebrated June 1 Children’s Day with a variety of events and activities. The Children’s Festival, organized by the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, kicked off with a lively parade and demonstrations that continued throughout the day.
The highlight of the festivities was the performance by Kolpa, a popular band from Turkey. GAB President Hüseyin Amcaoğlu expressed his gratitude to the thousands of attendees and hoped that the event would be a special gift to all the children in the country. He also extended his thanks to the sponsors and various organizations that contributed to the event’s success.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed food and beverages from the various stands set up at the festival. There were also activities such as a Classic Car Exhibition, children’s playgrounds, a Chess Tournament, Bicycle Track, DJ performances, and dance and gymnastics shows.
A traditional kite-flying activity on Municipal Boulevard added to the festive atmosphere, with children filling the sky with colorful kites. Additionally, a new park with basketball and volleyball courts was inaugurated in Yenikent Damla Street as part of the World Children’s Day celebrations.
The Children’s Festival will continue in Alayköy today, with more activities planned for the children. Retro Instrumentalists will provide the grand finale in Alayköy before the conclusion of the World Children’s Day activities organized by the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality. The events have brought joy and entertainment to children and families in the community, showcasing the spirit of unity and celebration on this special day dedicated to children worldwide.
