China Announces Results of 5th National Economic Census
China’s Fifth National Economic Census Reveals Growth and Stability
China has recently unveiled the results of its fifth national economic census, showcasing significant progress and stability in the country’s economy over the past five years. According to a report by the Chinese daily newspaper China Daily, the census findings highlight a positive trajectory for the nation’s economic landscape.
By the conclusion of 2023, China recorded a total of 33.27 million legal entities operating in the secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy, marking a substantial 52.7% increase compared to figures from the end of 2018. Additionally, the number of individuals employed in these sectors surged to over 428.98 million by the end of 2023, reflecting an 11.9% rise from the same period in 2018.
The census also revealed a notable increase in the number of individual entrepreneurs, reaching close to 88 million, subsequently creating job opportunities for nearly 179.56 million individuals. This data underscores the country’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and driving employment growth.
Furthermore, the economic census serves as a vital tool for gaining insights into China’s secondary sectors such as industry, energy, and construction, as well as its tertiary sectors including services, finance, and public administration. These findings offer valuable information on the country’s socio-economic development and form a crucial foundation for future policy decisions.
China’s decision to conduct the fifth national economic census in 2023 follows the successful completion of previous censuses in 2004, 2008, 2013, and 2018. This consistent monitoring and evaluation of the country’s economic landscape demonstrate China’s dedication to steering its economy towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
As China continues to make strides in economic development, the results of the fifth national economic census serve as a testament to the country’s resilience and commitment to fostering a thriving economic environment.
