China’s Taikonauts Reach Space in New Crewed Mission

China Launches New Taikonaut Team to Serve at Tiangong Space Station
China has successfully launched a spacecraft into Earth orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The spacecraft will be manned by a team of three taikonauts who will serve on the Tiangong Space Station for a period of five months. Notably, this marks the first time a civilian has been included in the team serving on the space station. Aerospace engineering professor Gui Hayçao will conduct general relativity experiments and space-time frequency tests alongside two other taikonauts.
The launch of the new taikonaut team brings the number of people in Earth orbit at the same time to a record 17. China’s efforts to build its own space station are ongoing, as the United States’ blocking of cooperation in space exploration has prevented its participation in the International Space Station program.
The Chinese space agency is striving to advance its space program and is making considerable progress towards achieving its goal. The launch of the new taikonaut team serves as a testament to China’s determination to make significant contributions to space exploration.
