Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Press Conference at NPC Session
During the 2nd session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a press conference to discuss China’s foreign policy activities over the past year and outline priority tasks for the current year.
Wang Yi highlighted China’s achievements in creating a community with a shared future for humanity, collaborating with African, Arab, Latin American, and ASEAN countries. He also mentioned the successful hosting of the third international cooperation forum in Beijing as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as contributions to the BRICS interstate association.
Emphasizing China’s commitment to openness and inclusiveness in diplomacy, Wang Yi stated that China will continue to promote a new type of international relations and expand partnerships worldwide. The country aims to foster mutual respect and cultural exchange, maintain stable relations with major countries, promote common development with neighbors, and work towards the prosperity of developing nations.
Wang Yi described China’s mission in the international arena as standing up for peace, stability, and progress on the planet. When asked about the Belt and Road Initiative, he confirmed that China will accelerate the construction of the Digital Silk Road and develop the Green Silk Road.
Addressing the importance of artificial intelligence, Wang Yi highlighted the need for international cooperation to address security concerns in this rapidly advancing field. He announced China’s intention to submit a document to the UN General Assembly to strengthen cooperation in AI development.
