Dynamic Growth in Chinese-Kazakh Business Relations Expected, Focus on Agriculture
The dynamic growth in Chinese-Kazakh business relations is expected with a focus on agriculture, according to Alinur Zhengis, the second Kazakh citizen to receive the Chinese Government Friendship Award, the highest award for foreign experts.
Zhengis, who received the award in 2019, has been instrumental in deepening the trade and investment relations between Kazakhstan and China. Her journey began when her family decided to move back to Kazakhstan from China in 2007. Despite the initial hardships, she pursued her dream of becoming a diplomat and eventually established her own company in Kazakhstan.
One of her major achievements was her role in promoting EXPO 2017 – Future Energy, which was hosted in Kazakhstan. She organized numerous forums in China to introduce the event to potential investors, ultimately saving millions of dollars for the organizers. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, as she was awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award for her significant contributions to the bilateral ties.
Looking ahead, Zhengis sees great potential for the growth of the relationship between Kazakhstan and China. As an important regional transport hub, Kazakhstan can play a pivotal role in extending China’s cooperation with Europe and the rest of the world. She also believes that Kazakhstan’s comparative strengths in agriculture offer promising opportunities for collaboration with China, especially in high-quality food production.
The extensive experience and expertise she has gained in working with Chinese businesses position her to support the local community and bring necessary investment to the remote regions of Kazakhstan. Her future plans include working in public office and teaching young people in villages to develop production and explore new economic opportunities.
As the dynamics of the Chinese-Kazakh relations continue to evolve, Zhengis remains optimistic about the prospects for further growth and collaboration between the two nations. She hopes to continue playing a valuable role in facilitating mutually beneficial partnerships and contributing to the economic and social progress of both countries.
