CHP Chairman Özel Calls for Unity and Justice at Hacıbektaş Event
During his speech at the “61st National, 35th International Hacı Bektaş Veli Commemoration, Culture and Art Activities” in Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, CHP Chairman Özel emphasized the historical significance of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s visit to Hacıbektaş during the War of Independence. He highlighted the vital support received from Khorasan saints that boosted Atatürk’s confidence during the struggle.
Özel pledged to continue shedding light on the darkness of thought as the leader of CHP, honoring the legacy of Hacı Bektaş Veli, and standing firm in the fight for justice. He acknowledged the suffering and resilience of the people throughout history, drawing parallels between past and present struggles.
Addressing the recent controversy over the “753rd Anniversary Commemoration Events of Hacı Bektaş Veli’s Walk to God” organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Özel expressed disappointment in the exclusion of legitimate political representatives and the disregard for Alevi rights. He condemned the disrespect shown towards the Alevi community and emphasized the need for equal citizenship rights for all.
Özel called for the recognition of Cemevis as places of worship for Alevis, highlighting the discrimination faced by the community in Turkey. He criticized the government’s actions that undermine secular education and marginalize Alevi beliefs. The chairman vowed to stand in solidarity with the Alevi community in their quest for justice and equality.
As the event concluded, Özel reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of unity, peace, and hope. He promised to continue the struggle until places like Madımak become symbols of shame, advocating for a society built on justice and inclusivity.
