CityRocks, Central Europe’s Largest Rock Band, to Perform Two Major Concerts in Romania and Hungary

CityRocks, the largest rock band in Central Europe, is gearing up for two major concerts in 2023. The group of hundreds of rock musicians will first perform in the European Capital of Culture, Veszprém on June 18, followed by another performance in Satu Mare (Szatmárnémeti), Transylvania, on July 29.
The organizers of the event invite anyone with basic vocal or instrumental knowledge to join the mega-orchestra, encouraging amateur and professional musicians from the region to apply. This initiative supports the musical mission of the European Capital of Culture VEB2023, which invites the production to Veszprém. The team believes that “music here happens not only for us, but with us.”
Ferenc Gajda, the main organizer of CityRocks, stated that the group represents more than just a party. It’s a gathering where hundreds of musicians, from children to seniors, from factory workers to top managers, come together. He emphasized that it doesn’t matter where an individual comes from or where they go; the essence of CityRocks lies in the ability to connect, an experience Gajda describes as the “miracle of live music.”
Veszprém, which has held the title of UNESCO City of Music since 2019, is this year’s European Capital of Culture alongside the Bakony-Balaton region. The VEB2023 EKF pays special attention to events that offer the experience of playing music, aiming to make Veszprém the city in which the most people play music and sing proportionally, as several studies suggest that cities with many active musicians are happier.
Satu Mare is also a symbolic location for the group, as it lies on the other side of a border where neighbouring peoples have historically had different attitudes. Gajda hopes that, by getting Hungarians, Romanians, and even Ukrainians to perform together during the event, it will set an uplifting example to foster positive change.
Those interested in performing can apply on the www.cityrocks.eu page. Singers, guitarists, bass players, drummers, and keyboard players can all apply to join the unique orchestra. Successful applicants will prepare for the two-hour concert with instructional videos provided by the organizers.
CityRocks promises to be an exciting and innovative event that demonstrates the power of music to connect people, irrespective of any unusual boundaries that may exist.
