Civil Defense Teams Mobilized to Find Missing Özparlak

The Civil Defense Organization and other emergency response teams successfully located a 94-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who had gone missing in Aydınköy on November 10th.

Rasim Özparlak was reported missing on November 10th, sparking immediate action from authorities. The Civil Defense Organization Presidency Güzelyurt Regional Directorate received a request for assistance from the Güzelyurt Police Department and promptly dispatched search and rescue teams to the area.

A Civil Defense Mobile Crisis Coordination Center was established in the region to coordinate the search efforts. In addition to the Civil Defense Organization Presidency teams, the search and rescue operation also involved General Directorate of Police Agile Unit Personnel, Fire Department personnel, Cyprus Search and Rescue Association (KARK), Natural Disaster Search and Rescue Association (DAAK), Civilian Disaster Team Association (SAT) teams, and local volunteers.

The extensive search and rescue efforts, which involved 48 Civil Defense personnel, 13 search and rescue vehicles, and 4 drones, continued late into the night and resumed early the next morning. Fortunately, the dedication and collaboration of the teams paid off, as Özparlak was found around 16:00 the following day.

Following his discovery, Özparlak was promptly attended to and sent to the hospital for further care. The successful outcome of this search and rescue operation demonstrates the effectiveness and importance of coordinated emergency response efforts in locating and assisting missing individuals.
