Suspect Detained After Incident at CHP Rally in Konya
In an official statement released by the Governor’s Office, it was announced that a Republican People’s Party (CHP) promotional vehicle was targeted during a rally in Konya, set for May 3. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM in the Çaybaşı neighborhood, outside a business establishment.
Prompt action by security teams led to the quick apprehension of a suspect, identified as MK, who was found in possession of a blank gun. According to MK’s statements provided to law enforcement, he expressed support for the CHP and claimed that he fired the weapon in a moment of excitement upon seeing the promotional vehicle, identified as a 70-plate vehicle.
Authorities recovered two empty blank cartridges from the scene, which were secured as evidence. MK was subsequently detained and is to be presented before the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for further proceedings.
