Coastal Cleanup Efforts in Five Regions by BRTK

Cleaning Work Continues on Beaches, Public Urged Not to Leave Garbage

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment has announced that cleaning efforts are ongoing on the beaches and has called on the public to refrain from leaving garbage in the environment.

In a recent statement released by the Ministry, it was emphasized that teams have been organized to clean the beaches during the summer months this year, as is done annually.

Five teams have been deployed to clean the beaches in Gazimağusa, İskele, Yeniboğaziçi, and Tatlısu. These teams are working diligently in both the morning and evening hours to ensure cleanliness.

The statement also outlined specific beach areas where cleaning efforts have been concentrated, including Palm Beach, Devran Beach, and Glapsides Beach in Famagusta; Salamis Hotel and Yeniboğaziçi Public Beach in Yeniboğaziçi; as well as public beach areas in İskele and Tatlısu.

Despite the presence of garbage bins in these areas, it has been observed that waste is being irresponsibly disposed of in the environment, leading to more garbage collection efforts, especially during evening cleanings. The statement underlined the importance of setting a good example in environmental cleanliness and urged the public to be more mindful of their waste management practices.

It is the collective responsibility of all citizens to contribute to a cleaner environment and to support efforts to maintain the beauty of the beaches for everyone to enjoy. Let us all do our part and keep our beaches clean for the benefit of both nature and future generations.
