
Combatting Greek Disinformation: BRTK’s Longstanding Battle

Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu recently participated in the International Strategic Communication Forum 24 (Stratcom Summit’24) organized by the Turkish Presidency Directorate of Communications in Istanbul. During his time at the summit, he spoke to NTV, attended TRT Documentary Days, and engaged in a podcast broadcast.
In his interview with NTV, Ertuğruloğlu expressed his views on the injustices faced by the Turkish Cypriot people, particularly highlighting England’s role in the conflict. He criticized England for failing to fulfill its obligations as a guarantor country and for supporting the recognition of the Greek Cypriots as the Republic of Cyprus. Ertuğruloğlu also raised concerns about the UK Prime Minister’s recent visit to the Greek Cypriot side without visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Furthermore, Ertuğruloğlu discussed the United States’ support for Southern Cyprus and emphasized the importance of Turkey in maintaining peace on the island. He also underscored the need for strategic communication and media cooperation, suggesting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, TAK, and BRT personnel should learn from Turkey’s experiences in this regard.
During his visit to the TRT International Documentary Awards in Istanbul, Ertuğruloğlu expressed gratitude for the documentaries produced on Cyprus and encouraged the continuation of documentary works, especially those focusing on the Erenköy Resistance.
Overall, Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu’s participation in the summit shed light on key issues affecting the Turkish Cypriot community and highlighted the importance of strategic communication and international support in resolving the Cyprus conflict.
