Commemoration Ceremony Held at Kyrenia Naval Martyrs’ Cemetery
Today, as part of the National Struggle and Martyrs’ Week from 21-25 December, a solemn commemoration ceremony took place at the Kyrenia Naval Martyrs’ Cemetery.
Various distinguished individuals attended the ceremony, including Kyrenia District Governor Cemal Özcemoğlu, Artillery Colonel Eyüp Şafak representing the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Command, Coast Guard Commander Marine Colonel Soner Özbal on behalf of the Security Forces Command, Deputy Mayor of Girne Municipality Haṣim Yücel, and Kyrenia Police Commander. Representatives from the Civil Defense Organization Kyrenia Branch, political parties, combat associations, institutions, organizations, and schools were also in attendance.
The ceremony commenced with the laying of wreaths at the Naval Martyrdom Monument as per protocol, followed by the raising of the flags accompanied by a moment of silence, a salute of respect, and the National Anthem.
Girne American College students recited poems, and Marine Lieutenant İbrahim Çengel from the Coast Guard Command delivered a speech highlighting the significance and importance of the day.
The event was a poignant tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for their country and served as a reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and independence.
