Commemoration Program Held in TRNC for 751st Anniversary of Mevlana’s Reunion

The Şeb-i Arus ceremony, organized under the leadership of Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute and with the support of Final International University, was held at the Mevlevi Lodge in the capital Nicosia. The ceremony, which attracted the attention of Turkish Cypriots, featured a Sufi music concert and a sema show performed by artists from Turkey.

During the ceremony, Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Abdullah Aktaş delivered a speech highlighting the significance of Hazrat Mevlana, a great mystic, thinker, scholar, and man of heart. Aktaş emphasized that Hazrat Mevlana has been a symbol of tolerance, goodness, peace, and brotherhood for hundreds of years, guiding humanity with his life.

Aktaş expressed that the enduring legacy of Hazrat Mevlana is a testament to the love and dedication he poured into his works. He remarked, “Undoubtedly, only a work written with love can survive for 7.5 centuries. Hazrat Mevlana worked on his works with such love that even 751 years after his reunion, we come together and remember him with kindness and affection on his wedding night.”

As the Institute, Aktaş mentioned their efforts to promote and introduce various values such as Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, Mevlana, Yunus Emre, Hacı Bayram-ı Veli, Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, and the cultural heritage they have cultivated over the centuries to all of humanity, particularly in countries like the TRNC. He expressed gratitude to the organizations that contributed to the successful organization of the program.

The ceremony served as a beautiful tribute to Hazrat Mevlana and his teachings, continuing to inspire people with his message of love, compassion, and unity.
