Completion of Protection work at Historical Alaminyo Mosque by Cultural Heritage Technical Committee

The Bilateral Cultural Heritage Technical Committee has successfully completed the protection work on the historical mosque located in the village of Alaminyo in the Larnaka region. Ali Tuncay, the co-chairman of the committee, shared details about the project with Cyprus.

The committee, along with an advisory board of experts, visited the Alaminyo Village Mosque and confirmed that the protection work has been successfully finished. Structural integrity was maintained, and extensive interventions were made to preserve the architectural and historical importance of the mosque. The area was cleaned, vegetation removed, and repairs were made to the wall plasters, roofs, wooden doors, and windows.

In addition to the Alaminyo project, the committee has also completed work on the Hagia Paraskevi Church in the Lower Marash region of Famagusta. Ongoing protection works on mosques in Southern Cyprus, such as the Evdim (Düzkaya) Mosque, are still in progress. The Tera Village Mosque in the village of Tera in BAF has also had its protection work completed.

To celebrate the completion of the Tera Mosque project, a visit and event will be organized in April. The works were carried out with the technical support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The committee continues to focus on preserving cultural heritage sites in the region, ensuring their protection for future generations.
