Kurtulmuş Marks 50th Anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Numan Kurtulmuş shared a message on social media commemorating the victory.
Kurtulmuş expressed great pride and happiness in celebrating the milestone of the Cyprus Peace Operation, highlighting the significant step taken on July 20, 1974, in the pursuit of peace and stability. He emphasized that this operation marked a crucial turning point for the security and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people, symbolizing the freedom attained through courage and resilience.
Reflecting on the historical significance of the Cyprus Peace Operation, TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş asserted that it reaffirms the independence of both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He emphasized the importance of remembering the national struggle based on peace and justice, which was aimed at protecting the Turkish Cypriots from massacres prior to the operation. Kurtulmuş also highlighted Turkey’s commitment to upholding international law and defending the homeland of the Turkish Cypriots, creating an environment of peace and security on the island.
