Controlled Gas Extraction in Kocaeli Ensures Safe Fueling for Teams – Latest Updates

The Kartepe district of Kocaeli experienced another incident related to underground gas just 13 days after a previous incident. This time, the gas was released during drilling work in the same region. However, the authorities were quick to respond and the gas was burned in a controlled manner.

On February 17, at around 14:00 in the Dumlupınar neighborhood of Kartepe, methane gas flared up during drilling work at a depth of approximately 47 meters. Security measures were immediately taken in the area, and firefighters managed to extinguish the flames the following day. Samples were collected by the Turkish Petroleum Joint Stock Partnership (TPAO) and the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) for further analysis.

Just when it seemed like the situation was under control, a gas leak occurred on Millet Street, approximately 500 meters away from the initial incident site. Emergency response teams, including firefighters, health officials, AFAD, and police, quickly arrived at the scene. The gas was once again burned in a controlled manner to prevent any further danger.

It is essential for authorities to closely monitor the situation and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the residents in the area. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing story.
