Controversy Surrounds Özel’s Color Suggestion for ‘Six Arrows’
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced plans to make a change to the party emblem by painting the arrow representing the principle of statism in two colors. This decision was shared during the Special CHP Women’s Branch remarks at the 15th Ordinary Congress.
“My hope is that we will paint half of the arrow of statism, which is in the middle of the CHP’s arrows, green and the other half purple with the environmentalist, sustainable, nature-friendly, development-believing projects that we will include in that program congress and our clear stance on gender equality,” stated the Special CHP Women’s Branch.
However, Özel’s statements were met with discussions and some drew comparisons between the green and purple colors mentioned by Özel and the DEM Party’s emblem. Reactions flooded social media platforms following this announcement.
CHP Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel offered a different perspective by stating that there is no change regarding the party emblem as announced by Özel. Yücel emphasized that the green color representing environmentalism and the purple color symbolizing gender equality were meant to symbolize the party’s commitment to environmentalist, nature-friendly, sustainable policies, and gender equality within the context of statism.
In conclusion, while Özgür Özel’s announcement sparked discussions, the party spokesperson clarified that there will be no change to the symbol of the party’s emblem. The matter is expected to be further addressed during the upcoming bylaw and program congress scheduled for September.
