Cooperation Protocol Signed Between TRNC Ministry of National Education and TÜBİTAK
A new cooperation protocol has been signed between the Ministry of National Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) to support science and technology projects in TRNC universities.
The protocol was signed by Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu and TÜBİTAK President Dr. Hasan Mandal. The signing ceremony took place in Nicosia and was attended by various officials including Ömer Cihan, the Coordinator of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office (BSEC) at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, Aytunç Şirket, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Education, and Behcet Çelebi, the Director of the Department of Higher Education and Foreign Relations.
During the ceremony, Minister Çavuşoğlu highlighted the significance of the protocol, stating that it is a major step for the country. He emphasized that the protocol will support the scientific studies and technological projects of universities in TRNC. Çavuşoğlu also extended his best wishes to all scientists and higher education institutions who will be applying to TÜBİTAK programs with their projects.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the preparation of the protocol and the BSEC Office for their support, wishing them good luck. Ömer Cihan, the BSEC Office Coordinator, also regarded the signed protocol as a significant development for the TRNC’s progress and expressed hope that it will be beneficial for both countries.
The main objective of the protocol is to encourage and support cooperation in the fields of science and technology, in accordance with the existing laws and regulations of both countries. It aims to foster collaboration in natural sciences, engineering and technology, medicine and health sciences, agricultural sciences and veterinary medicine, as well as social and human sciences.
This protocol will create opportunities for scientists in TRNC to apply to TÜBİTAK programs and benefit from their evaluation and monitoring systems. The details regarding applications and evaluation processes will be determined and announced by the joint committee formed by the Ministry of National Education and TÜBİTAK.
The signing of this cooperation protocol signifies a positive step towards enhancing scientific research and technological advancements in TRNC and strengthening collaboration between TRNC universities and TÜBİTAK.
