CTP Begins Candidate Promotions in Güzelyurt and Lefke Ahead of Congress – BRTK

The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) has kicked off the introduction of party council candidates ahead of its 9th Ordinary Congress scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025. The first promotional meeting took place at Güzelyurt AKM, with a joint organization of Güzelyurt and Lefke districts.

At the upcoming congress, a total of 128 individuals have been nominated for 75 Party Assembly Members (PM), with Tufan Erhürman, the current CTP President, being the sole candidate for the presidency.

During the candidate promotion meeting, Erhürman emphasized the significance of two upcoming elections within 12 months post-congress and called on all party members to act with heightened awareness. He also took the opportunity to criticize the government, stating that the responsibility lies not only with the CTP but also with the people, urging for collective progress.

Erhürman underscored the CTP’s commitment to preventing any division or disintegration within the party, emphasizing the people’s demand for change. Regarding the recent 5+1 non-official meeting in Geneva, Erhürman expressed disappointment in what he perceived as wasted time over the past four and a half years.

He questioned the necessity of convening in Geneva for another 5+1 meeting in July, highlighting the importance of dialogue and the need for creative measures to build trust and advance towards a resolution. Erhürman emphasized the inevitability of dialogue in resolving conflicts and moving forward.
