CTP Chairman Erhürman Addresses Press Conference – BRTK
The Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Tufan Erhürman, recently addressed the ongoing issues in the education sector in the country during a press conference held at the party headquarters. Erhürman pointed out the inequality of opportunities between public and private schools, emphasizing the significant gaps in equal opportunities for children.
Highlighting the need to close this disparity, Erhürman proposed a shift towards full-time education to address the issue. He also provided statistics regarding the current state of schools in the country, revealing that 28 schools are currently unusable due to reinforcement work, while 20 schools have completed reinforcement work and 8 schools are still undergoing renovation to provide a safe environment for students.
Erhürman further noted that 294 classrooms have been emptied as a result of the reinforcement works, with 218 prefabricated or container classrooms being used as temporary solutions. In a bold statement, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing student safety, stating, “If any child is going to be in an unsafe building, of course I would prefer them to be in a container or prefabricated classroom.”
The press conference shed light on the urgent need for improvements in the education infrastructure to ensure a safe and equitable environment for all students across the country.
