CTP’s Nominee Sami Özuslu for Upcoming Elections
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) announces Sami Özuslu as their candidate for the upcoming by-election scheduled to take place on June 25. Özuslu was the only applicant for the position, and after the Party Assembly evaluated the midterm elections, CTP approved his candidacy in accordance with their statutes.
CTP is a left-wing political party in Northern Cyprus with a social democratic ideology. They have been a significant player in the politics of Northern Cyprus since their formation in 1970. Özuslu is an experienced politician who has previously held positions in the government, including Minister of Labour and Social Security.
The by-election has been called following the resignation of former Member of Parliament (MP) Hasan Topal, who left his position in March this year citing personal reasons. Topal won his seat through CTP during the 2018 elections, and the party is hoping to retain the seat with Özuslu in the upcoming by-election.
Özuslu has a strong track record of working towards the betterment of society and has prioritized social welfare issues in his previous roles.
